Spain — New CTE Basic Document on Environmental Sustainability (DB-SA) — Mandatory LCA

Spain is introducing mandatory life-cycle assessment (LCA) for new buildings through the new DB-SA document in the CTE, expected from the second half of 2026. Requirements promote low-carbon materials and integrate LCA results into energy performance certificates. This is a proposed regulation, not yet adopted. It will raise demand for sustainable materials and increase documentation requirements.
