French Environmental Regulation RE2020 — New Buildings
RE2020 (Décret n° 2021-1004) replaced RT2012 as France's energy standard for new buildings from 1 January 2022. It caps greenhouse gas emissions over the full building lifecycle and mandates low-carbon construction materials. Carbon thresholds tighten in stages through 2031, driving demand for timber construction, recycled materials and low-carbon concrete.
