Heat Planning Act and Decarbonization of Heating Networks

The Heat Planning Act (WPG) establishes mandatory and nationwide heat planning in Germany. It aims to decarbonize heating networks by requiring municipalities to develop heat plans. Larger cities must complete their plans by mid-2026, and smaller ones by mid-2028. The law came into effect on January 1, 2024.
